Is a serverless world possible?

Is the world consuming lots of time uploading the data, managing the data on the servers? Or we have acquainted the newer and simpler way for it?
With the technology rising to the mark of 2020, it gives us the power of becoming serverless moving ahead with this excellent alternative. Soon, it will become a necessity for each business and technology-oriented products. There will be a day where the server“less” will become “more” and that day is not very far.

How did Serverless computing come in existence?

It all started in 2006, where the birth of cloud computing came, and along with it came the acceptance to this technology. After a decade, there were over 3 billion people who were using it and more than 10TB of data collected via it. According to a recent report from Gartner, more than 20% of global enterprises will have deployed serverless computing technologies by 2020.

Why is serverless computing in demand?

Understand the current scenario and power of it.

The 2 main aspects of serverless architecture:

FaaS (Function as a Service)

It focuses on the event-driven computing criterion where application code, or containers, only run in response to events or requests. AWS Lambda, Azure functions are few examples which manage such functions.

BaaS (Backend as a Service)

It is a platform where the backend side development is completely automated using third-party services. Firebase, Auth0 are a few such examples which help in authentication, database, user management and handles most of the business logic.

The 5 points that influence the entire serverless concept are:

  1. It is practical and efficient without worrying about infrastructure management.
  2. No physical hardware is to be bought and paid for the maintenance.
  3. Charging the consumer based on usage and not on the fixed amount of bandwidth or number of servers.
  4. There is a pay-for-value billing model where you will not be paying for over-provisioning while it optimizes the resource utilization.
  5. It offers dynamically scalability within seconds to match the demands of any workload.

Does it have the potential to eradicate servers?

Although serverless computing does not mean the absolute absence of the servers, but it helps the developers to write back-end codes and have these codes run like a function on a cloud provided server. It takes no time eventually increasing the development team’s agility to deliver more functionality in less time.

Well, and as we talk about it from the very beginning of the article, you yourself can make a guess and think that more advance technology, much more compliable, much more potential and while looking at the gravity of future ease and effectiveness, the world will definitely switch to serverless computing over servers in few years completely.
